Handwashing stations are most useful when placed where people naturally need them, not simply wherever there is leftover space. For an event with food or beverages, consider a location near dining, serving, or restroom areas while keeping a clear path for guests. For children’s activities, craft events, cleanup days, or volunteer work, a station can be positioned near the hands-on activity zone so participants do not need to travel across the property. On a jobsite, the best location is typically close enough for regular use but outside equipment routes and areas where it could be struck or blocked. Think about who will use the station throughout the day: guests, workers, caterers, vendors, families, or the public. A light-use backyard event and a busy festival can have very different sanitation demands. Share the peak user period, whether there will be multiple activity areas, and whether the handwashing station is intended to complement portable restrooms or serve a separate work area.

Site preparation for a handwashing station should include a firm, level placement area and a delivery route free of tight turns, parked vehicles, low branches, or obstacles. Avoid locating the station where runoff, foot traffic, or a long line could create a slippery or congested area. If it is part of a larger restroom cluster, leave enough room for people to approach both the toilets and the station without queuing into a walkway, dining area, or emergency route. For a wedding or formal event, the station can be planned as part of the guest-services area rather than placed beside catering equipment. For construction, remodeling, and industrial work, describe daily crew size and the duration of the project so sanitation needs can be discussed alongside servicing. Include any venue rules, public-space approvals, or site access schedules in the quote request. Good sanitation placement supports a cleaner, more usable temporary restroom setup for everyone onsite.
